In one of the bigger shocks of the day, Major League Baseball has suspended San Diego Padres GM A.J. Preller for 30 days without pay. Ken Rosenthal reported that it might be related to the trade Preller made with the Boston Red Sox involving pitcher Drew Pomeranz.
The Diamondbacks confirmed the trade in a news release Wednesday afternoon, less than two hours before baseball’s non-waiver trade deadline.
After he was plunked on the left shoulder, Quentin started walking toward the mound. Greinke appeared to say something and Quentin then charged the 2009 AL Cy Young Award winner. They dropped their shoulders and collided, and Quentin wrestled the pitcher to the ground. Both ended up on the bottom of a huge scrum.
