Some Answers, More Questions over Patriots QB Situation

The New England Patriots technically have three quarterbacks on their team, but it’s still unclear who will get the start in Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.  We know that Tom Brady, who still has one game left on his suspension won’t be making the start, but the injuries to backups Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett, have put the Patriots in a bit of a quandry.

Garoppolo, who injured his AC joint two weeks ago, after taking a hit against the Miami Dolphins was seen walking around the Patriots locker room without a sling; possibly a sign that he might be under center for New England on Sunday.

But to add even more speculation to the mix, Brisset, who suffered an injury to his thumb in last week’s game against the Houston Texans was seen walking around the locker room with no protective covering on his injured thumb – perhaps a sign that he could be ready to play on Sunday.

There was even some speculation that WR Julian Edelman might get some time at quarterback – and the lack of any roster moves for New England involving a free agent QB pointed to this as another possible scenario. This could be a classic case of Bill Belichick misdirection, seeing as how the two quarterbacks play completely different styles and there’s no one defensive scheme that can effectively neutralize both. We will have to wait until Sunday to know for sure.
