The Nationals struck early, tagging Rich Hill for one run that looked like it was going to stand. That is until Joc Pederson took Max Scherzer deep, and setting off a seventh inning for the ages.

In what was supposed to be a pitching duel between aces Kershaw and Max Scherzer turned out to be a battle of bullpens. Kershaw lasted just five, giving up three runs on eight hits. Scherzer lasted six, but gave up four runs on four hits.
