Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson gained a lot of momentum for the Heisman Trophy in the early and middle parts of the season, but unconvincing performances in losses to Houston and Kentucky have opened up the door for other contenders.
Sure, it looks like Lamar Jackson has all but won the award, but don’t forget what happened last season. Almost everyone was ready to give the award to Leonard Fournette, but a 31-yard effort in a loss against Alabama began his downfall.
There is no other college football award as prestigious as the Heisman Trophy. Even being considered for it is an accomplishment. Having your name come up in the same conversation with the Heisman gives you instant credibility.
