It’s official. Rick Renteria will be the next manager of the Chicago White Sox. Renteria will replace Robin Ventura, who announced his resignation after five seasons on the South Side.
Adam Dunn told Fox Sports that he will consider retiring this offseason despite the fact that the Chicago White Sox slugger is under contract for $15 million in 2014.
The White Sox have elected to keep Peavy fresh in the event he is traded, making him available immediately for any team that might acquire the former Cy Young Award winner. The Arizona Diamondbacks have emerged as the frontrunner to acquire Peavy, a major league source told ESPN.com.
Chicago White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham immediately knew there was a problem with his left wrist after taking a swing against Washington Nationals starter Gio Gonzalez in the second inning of Tuesday night’s interleague game.
There was lots of room for improvement in the AL Central this year, but only a couple of teams seem to have taken advantage of the offseason. Detroit is likely the front-runner of the division again, but the Indians, Royals and White Sox have made some moves that could put them in contention during the month of September.
