Seattle Seahawks Penalized for Violation of Off-Season Rules

The Seattle Seahawks received their punishment from the National Football League today, for an incident in early June that violated the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

A June 6th offseason workout allegedly included an excessive amount of contact, which is a violation of the CBA that the NFL and the NFLPA had agreed upon during their last round of negotiations. The penalties include:

  • $400k fine for the Seahawks
  • Loss of a fifth round pick in the 2017 draft
  • Forfeiture of one week of 2017 OTA’s

Pete Carroll, head coach of the Seahawks, was personally fined $200k for his involvement in the violation. The full write-up of the incident and suspension can be seen on Adam Schefter’s twitter (@AdamSchefter).
