Houston Texans star DE, JJ Watt has re-injured his back, according to Ian Rapoport on Twitter, and could possibly miss the remainder of the 2016 season.

Watt missed the entire pre-season while he recovered from back surgery for a herniated disk but was able to return in time for the regular season. He had yet to return to the form that won him the DPOY the last three seasons, and looked particularly absent in last week’s game against the New England Patriots, recording 0 sacks and fewer than three tackles for the first time since his rookie season.
Sources familiar with the situation say that Watt will be placed on injured reserve, which doesn’t necessarily mean he will miss the entire season (as it had in years past), but it would guarantee at least an eight week absence. The team has signed DE Antonio Smith to a one year deal, to help bolster depth at the position.
