List of NBA Sixth Man Award Winners

As soon as the NBA regular season is completed, a panel of sportswriters and sports broadcasters vote to decide who the league’s Sixth Man of the Year award should go to.  The award was first introduced following the 1982-1983 season and has since grown into one of the most distinguished awards given out by the National Basketball Association.  Each writer and broadcaster on the panel casts a vote for their first through third place candidates for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award.

  • First Place Vote = 5 Points
  • Second Place Vote = 3 Points
  • Third Place Vote = 1 Points

The player receiving the most points (not necessarily first place votes) wins the award.  In order to be eligible to win the NBA’s Sixth Man award, the player must come off the bench in more games than he starts during the current season.
