The Toronto Blue Jays jumped out to another early lead, thanks to home runs by Tulowitzki, Pillar, Carrera and Encarnacion; then held on late to beat the Texas Rangers and head back home with a 2-0 series lead.
Yu Darvish lasted only five innings surrendering all of the scoring to the Jays. Texas rallied late, cutting the deficit to two runs in the eighth inning, but it proved to be too little too late.
Although the Rangers boasted the best record in the American League – they finished the 162 game season with only a +8 run differential. Through two games in the ALDS, they have already gone negative for the year.
J.A. Happ turned in a strong performance, something the 20-game winner has grown accustomed to. While he did give way to the bullpen after just five innings, he only allowed one run, despite surrendering 9 hits.
The series heads to Toronto on Sunday, for game three.
