The All Sports Talk Major League Baseball Bandwagon: Week 4

Week 4

My apologies for getting this done a little late, but I really think that Monday’s are going to work out a little better for this series anyways.  As we enter the fourth full week of MLB action, it’s time once again to let the bandwagon fans know who to root for and who’s ballcap to tuck away in a box for a while.  If you want to take a look at last week’s bandwagon report, you can check it out here.  Trying out a new format too for selecting the teams to talk about – let me know what you all think.

Good Team + Easy Upcoming Schedule = No Brainer

  • Detroit Tigers – They absolutely shredded through the White Sox this past weekend with strong pitching and hugely productive offense.  They face the struggling Seattle Mariners early this week and then head on over to Cleveland to take on the suddenly-human Indians.  The Tigers are getting hot just in time for a couple series’ that they might not have won without some confidence and momentum.  Look for the Tigers to win at least 4 of 6 this coming week.

Decent Record + Tough Schedule = Low Confidence

  • Cleveland Indians – Despite their sub-par weekend, we are reluctant to say that the Indians have peaked out.  Furthermore, they kick off this week against the Royals (who are an improved team, but come one, they are still the Royals).  It’s the weekend series against the Tigers that has us losing our confidence in this team.  I’m not saying that they can’t win their weekend series against Detroit, I’m just saying that they aren’t a sure bet to be the team to root heartily for this upcoming week.

Marginal Team + Fairly Easy Schedule = Root at Your Own Risk

  • Chicago Cubs – This team is actually remaining fairly competitive in the standings, despite their sub-.500 record.  But they face a streaking Rockies team early in the week and then close out the weekend with a 4 game set against the D-Backs.  Even a split against the D-Backs (which is likely their best case scenario) will see the Cubbies dropping even further in the standings. You can root for the Cubs this week, but don’t even pretend like we told you to.

Bad Team + Tough Schedule = Avoid Like the Plague

  • Houston Astros – This team is pretty bad and when you combine that with two of the top teams in the NL Central coming to town, you have yourself a recipe for disaster.  If you are just dying to break out your new Astros hat, you might want to wait a week or so because this could be an 0’fer week based on their schedule.

Just remember: Nobody has to know that you’re a fairweather fan if you have the right team’s jersey on.  For all your baseball jersey needs, head over to JockJerseys.com.
