Cleveland Indians 2 – 0 Toronto Blue Jays
Corey Kluber scattered 8 base runners over 6.1 innings, striking out 8 Blue Jays en route to a game one victory. Kluber’s dominant performance was followed up by an even more electric performance from Andrew Miller.
Miller pitched 1.2 innings, striking out five and allowing just one hit, in what has become an almost routine outing for him. In four appearances spanning 7.2 innings, Miller has fanned 17 which is nearly 75% of the outs he’s recorded. His WHIP is a minuscule 0.65.
With Cleveland’s pitching staff performing lights out, all the Indians would need was a two-run homer from Francisco Lindor in the sixth inning.
The series resumes on Saturday in Cleveland.
