Giants Blow Lead, Rally Late to Avoid Elimination

San Francisco Giants  6 – 5  Chicago Cubs

After surrendering the lead in the eighth inning, the Giants rallied in the 13th to stave off elimination and force a game four.

San Francisco trailed for much of the game, following a three-run homer from Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta, but the Giants chipped away and eventually took the lead in the bottom of the eighth.  That lead was quickly surrendered as Kris Bryant tied the game in the ninth with a two-run homer.

Both bullpens held up for three innings, before Joe Panik doubled in Brandon Crawford with the game winning RBI.

The series resumes on Tuesday evening.
