D’Backs Clean House, Fire GM & Manager

It was a tumultuous year for the Arizona Diamondbacks which culminated in a 69-93 record and a last place finish in the NL West. Expectations for the team were high after the acquisition of SP Zack Greinke in the off-season, but the team never reached their potential, en route to their fifth straight season without a winning record (but two .500 seasons).

Today, the team announced that GM Dave Stewart and Manager Chip Hale were let go.

For many fans, the firing of Stewart came a season too late, as he engineered the move that sent #1 overall draft pick, SS Dansby Swanson, to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for SP Shelby Miller. Miller at one point in the 2016 season was optioned to AAA.
