Cubs Rally to Stave Off Elimination

Chicago Cubs  3 – 2  Cleveland Indians

With their backs against the wall, the Cubs used a huge fourth inning against Trevor Bauer to fight off elimination and force a game six. Jon Lester pitched well enough, going six innings and allowing just two runs and Aroldis Chapman recorded an 8 out save to extend the series.

Cleveland struck first with a solo home run from Jose Ramirez, but Chicago roared back with a solo home run by Kris Bryant. Addison Russel’s infield hit plated another before David Ross scored Ben Zobrist with a sacrifice fly to give the Cubs a 3-1 lead. Cleveland would answer in the sixth, but the Cubs bullpen closed the door with a strong three inning performance.

The series will resume in Cleveland on Tuesday as Jake Arrieta faces off against Josh Tomlin.
