Toronto Blue Jays 5 – 1 Cleveland Indians
With their backs against the wall, the Blue Jays finally got the bats going and survived another day. Toronto became the first team since 2004 to win a game after falling behind 0-3 in a series. The previous nine times that happened, the trailing team was swept.
Josh Donaldson opened the scoring with a home run to center. The fourth inning saw an Ezequiel Carrera single that extended the lead to 2-0. Cleveland would answer back in the fifth on an RBI double from Roberto Perez, but that was as close as they’d get.
The series resumes on Wednesday.
