Chicago Cubs 1 – 0 San Francisco Giants
It was another classic post-season pitching duel, with neither team giving way until Javier Baez homered in the eighth. The Cubs bullpen hung on in the ninth, giving Chicago a 1-0 win, as well as a 1-0 NLDS lead over the Giants.
Jon Lester pitched eight scoreless innings and Aroldis Chapman nimbly navigated past a leadoff double in the ninth to preserve the victory.
Johnny Cueto was equally dominant, save for the mistake to Baez, scattering three hits and striking out 10. Buster Posey went 2-4 with a double in the loss.
Game two picks up on Saturday in Chicago.
