This list of important dates in the 2013 Major League Baseball season will help you keep track of things like opening day, the All-Star Break and the trade deadline.

When does the 2013 Baseball Season Start?

Opening night for the 2013 season is Sunday March 31st between the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros.  Monday, April 1st is opening day for the rest of the league.

When is the 2013 MLB Draft?

The first-year draft for Major League Baseball is from Thursday June 6th – Saturday June 8th. This first year draft is for MLB Teams to select players that have never been drafted before to join their farm system.

The Rule 5 draft, which is a way to hinder teams from stockpiling draft choices and keeping them in the minors, takes place on December 12th.

When is the 2013 MLB All Star Game?

The MLB All Star Game for 2013 falls on Tuesday July 16th.  The 84th All-Star Game will be played at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets.  Events will be going on all weekend leading up to the game including the home run derby, fanfest, and the celebrity softball game.

Voting for the 2013 MLB All-Star Game begins on April 24th and continues through July 7th, when the MLB All-Stars are announced.

The non-waiver trade deadline falls on Wednesday July 31st.  The waiver trade deadline falls on Saturday August 31st.  The difference between the two deadlines is that for the non-waiver trade deadline, players may be freely traded as long as two or more teams reach an agreement where the waiver trade deadline means that if a player is to be traded, they must be first placed on waivers and any team is eligible to claim them. If more than one team puts in a claim, then the team with the weakest record gets preference. The two teams then have 48 hours to complete the trade.

When do MLB Rosters Expand?

Rosters of Major League teams will expand from 25 to 40 on September 1st. This allows teams who are not in the playoff hunt to evaluate some of their minor league talent against major league opponents. It also allows the teams who are in a position to make the playoffs a chance to bolster their roster with extra pitchers or bench players who might come in handy during a post-season run.

When does the 2013 Regular Season End?

The final day of the 2013 regular season is on Sunday, September 29th.
